George Perkins Marsh’s book Man and Nature was inspired by his observations of nature from his home in New England and while traveling. Written in 1864, this book was one of the most influential books of its time and its analysis on the negative impact of humans on the environment continue to be a topic of conversation today. Perkins Marsh caused Americans to reflect on their role in environmentalism and successfully launched the environmental movement. |
